The Jewish community of Tunisia fears that the state will close its gates to Jewish visitors, following retired law professor Kais Saied's win in the presidential election.

During the campaign, Said declared he would prohibit entry of Jews with Israeli passports to the state, making it clear, "We have no problem with the Jews, but normalization with Israel will be considered a great betrayal. Relations with the Israelis must not be maintained, Israeli passport holders must not be allowed to visit Tunisia." He tried to calm the local Jewish community, saying that "Tunisian Jews are part of us."
