Chairman of German Rabbis and Deputy Chairman of the Standing Committee of European Rabbis Conference and Frankfurt Chief Rabbi, Avichai Apple said in response to the attack on Halle:

'We are all shocked by the horrific murders and the attempt to attack the synagogue in Halle during Yom Kippur. As the crowd gathered to pray for mercy on all of Israel, a Nazi tried to hurt innocent worshipers and eventually murdered two bystanders.

'The Conference of Orthodox Rabbis in Germany calls for an increase in security around Jewish Institutions

We thank security forces and police services that have been operating throughout the year and especially since the attack on the site and have given worshipers a sense of security to continue the Yom Kippur prayers.

We strengthen the members of the community and its leaders. Germany's Jewish communities will continue their continue to pray and study the Torah in all Jewish institutions and synagogues more and more intensely without fear, anti-Semites cannot interfere with our Jewish lives. We send condolences to the families of those killed."
