The Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS) today released data on differences and gaps between different populations in the country's center and periphery. The report includes data collected from 2016-2017 including demographic characteristics, population welfare, standard of living, employment rate, and health status.
According to the report, there are gaps in the employment rate between center and periphery residents - 5% of residents living in periphery-defined localities are looking for work, compared with 3.9% in very central localities according to the CBS index.
There are also gaps in the rate of financial income between households in the periphery and the center - NIS 22,035 a month in very central localities, compared to 18,622 in very peripheral localities and 20,651 in peripheral localities. However, monetary expenditure is also declining as housing moves away from central localities - NIS 16,999 per month in very central localities versus NIS 15,132 in very peripheral localities.
