Women's Network against 'Song of the Levites'

The Israel Women's Network is calling for the cancellation of the "Song of the Levites" event initiated, not for the first time, by the Company for the Reconstruction and Development of the Jewish Quarter in Jerusalem, according to Galei Tzahal radio. It is a re-creation of a customary ceremony in the Temple by Levites from all over the country, all of whom, as tradition determines, are men.

IWN said, "Having a mass cultural event of song on the purity of men is discriminatory, outrageous and forbidden. It is unthinkable that a government company and the Jerusalem municipality promote an event in which women are not equal participants."
