The Galilee Development Company says that according to an estimate made two months before Rosh Hashanah, the apple-and-honey holiday, the national apple crop in the coming year is expected to reach 100,000 tons.
In addition to domestic production, apple imports - mainly from Europe and the United States, in accordance with international trade agreements - range from 20,000 to 25,000 tons per year. Domestic consumption is 16-20 kilograms per capita a year.
