The Supreme Court has ruled that Carmel Mauda, the caregiver accused of child abuse, will be released to house arrest.
Her attorney said, "The release decision does not reduce this darkness from her grief, pain and identification with the pain of the families. The defendant will use the time until her trial ends for introspection and will continue to cooperate with the treatment agencies. She asks for forgiveness from the families and the minors."
