Turkish foreign minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu said on Sunday that Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu’s announcement of his intention to annex the Jordan Valley following Tuesday's elections shows Israel is becoming a “racist, apartheid regime”, according to Reuters, citing Turkey's Anadolu news agency.

Speaking at a meeting of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia to address the announcement, Çavuşoğlu said, Netanyahu's “embarrassing” plan was a “despicable” attempt to earn votes ahead of Tuesday’s election, and criticized what he called a lack of reaction from other Muslim countries.
