Hong Kong Stock Exchange offers to buy London Stock Exchange

The Wall Street Journal reports that the Hong Kong Stock Exchange has offered to buy the London Stock Exchange for around $36.6 billion, saying a merger would be a "highly compelling strategic opportunity to create a global market infrastructure leader."
