The Israel Public Broadcasting Corporation reported, Tuesday that classrooms in Israel are among the most crowded, and per-student investment is among the lowest in developed countries, according to the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development's just-released Education at a Glance 2019.

In the early childhood investment category, Israel is ranked next to last. To align with OECD countries, Israel needs to add NIS 13 billion to education budget - not including preschool education. Education Minister Rafi Peretz said the figures on the improvement in investment in education and teacher pay are encouraging. However, those related to the low student-level investment in relation to the rest of the world are "bothersome".
