President Reuven Rivlin defended Chairman Hanan Melcer of the Central Elections Committee and Attorney-General Avichai Mandelblit on Sunday from criticism over their stances on the issue of cameras at polling places.
Speaking as he received the 2018 "Diversity and Representation in the Civil Service" report from Civil Service Commissioner Daniel Hershkovitz, Rivlin stressed, "I stand with the members of the Central Elections Committee and its chair Vice-President of the Supreme Court Judge Hanan Melcer and with Attorney-General Dr. Avichai Mandelblit, who face unsubstantiated and even irresponsible political attacks at present. There is no room for such attacks and if we are part of them, even by remaining silent, what have we become?”
