Two more community courts will begin operating this week in Jerusalem and Haifa, joining four community courts in Beer Sheva, Ramle, Tel Aviv and Nazareth, which have been operating with great success since the start of the system at the end of 2014.

Community courts deal with the phenomenon of recidivism with the view that some offenses are committed against the background of socio-economic distress. Holistic treatment of these adversities, by all the partners in the community court model, is intended to assist the defendants in rehabilitation and preventing the "revolving door" phenomenon.
