British Jews against October 14th - 1st day of Sukkot - for snap election

The Jewish Community Council of North London wrote on Twitter, Tuesday, "The possibility of a early snap election taking place October 14 means thousands of orthodox Jewish voters being unable to participate in these important elections."

October 14th is the first day of the Sukkot holiday, when voting is prohibited under Jewish law. The council continued, "We are in contact with 10 Downing Street [the prime minister's office -ed.] and other relevant authorities including the Electoral Commission to resolve this."
