State Prosecutor Shai Nitzan and top prosecution officials made an unusual work-related tour of Jerusalem's Temple Mount on Monday morning, accompanied by police and senior army officers, according to Haaretz.
The specific reason for the visit was not given. The tour was coordinated in advance with the Waqf Islamic Authority on the Temple Mount, despite the fact that Jews are barred from entering buildings there. The officials visited the Marwan Mosque (Solomon's Stables in Hebrew) and the Dome of the Rock, as well as Christian and Jewish sites in the Old City. Although Arabs decried the visit as an "invasion" on social media, the tour passed without incident.
