Chairman Amir Peretz of the Labor Party declared on Monday that he will seek the post of finance minister in the next government, if it is not formed by Binyamin Netanyahu.
Speaking at a conference hosted by the Calcalist financial publication, Peretz said, "In a government without Netanyahu, I will be the Minister of Finance. We will replace both Bibi and his policy. No Israeli family has gone bankrupt from cottage cheese prices, but hundreds of thousands of Israeli families are unable to finish the month [with a positive bank balance] and are in overdraft because of education and housing expenses. Netanyahu and his students are abandoning the citizens of Israel."
