Ahead of a United Nations Security Council vote on the renewal of the mandate of its 41-year-old Interim Force in Lebanon, Israeli Ambassador to the UN Danny Danon said, "The Israeli interest is reflected in the decision but we will still demand from the UNIFIL force to take responsibility and act vigorously within its mandated territory. Israel regards the Lebanese government as the sole responsible [body] for Hezbollah's terrorist activities in its territory."
The council discussion of the matter is scheduled to begin at 10pm Israel Time (3pm New York time).
