Chairman Amir Peretz of the Labor-Gesher Party visited the Gaza-area city of Netivot on Monday, including a number of sites that are not secure against missile attacks.
The former defense minister, who served as chairman of the Knesset Home Front Subcommittee and led the decision on the development of the Iron Dome anti-missile defense system promised to enact the Residential secure place (Merchav Memugan Dirati or Mamad in Hebrew) for every citizen" law that will protect hundreds of thousands of Israelis within range of the rockets. He cosponsored the bill in the Knesset before the last election and noted, "In Israel, there are now about half a million citizens who live in homes and apartments that are not protected."
