For the first time, an attempt was made to petition the Supreme Court against an order issued by Internal Security Minister Gilad Erdan to close an PA event that was supposed to take place in Jerusalem in violation of the implementation law. The petition was rejected on the recommendation of the judges, after they perused the intelligence material on which Minister Erdan based the order.
Minister Erdan said: "We must internalize that the PA tries in every way possible to try to undermine our sovereignty in Jerusalem and it is assisted by lawbreakers who lie and accuse the police.
"I applaud the Court's unequivocal clarity that the nature of the event is irrelevant but a violation of the law and violation of sovereignty in the capital. East Jerusalem residents may hold any cultural event, but not to bring the PA into the city."
