President Reuven Rivlin spoke on the telephone with Speaker of the House and US Congresswoman Nancy Pelosi.
In their conversation, the two discussed the recent sequence of events and the importance of the strong relationship between the State of Israel and the United States.
"I want to thank you for your unqualified commitment to US-Israeli relations and for being a true friend," the president said, adding: "I remember your excellent visit here when you chaired a delegation of Democratic congressmen in honor of our 70th Independence Day."
The President emphasized that "the relationship between the State of Israel and the United States is a link between nations, which draws on historical ties, deep and intimate friendship and shared values that do not derive from one or the other party connection."
