American-Israeli basketball coach David Blatt, who coaches Olympiacos of Piraeus, has spoken about his health for the first time after being diagnosed with PPMS (Primary-Progressive Multiple Sclerosis), through an open letter published by the Greek team, according to the Eurohoops.net website.
Blatt wrote, "So, the problem is PPMS, which in my case acts out with my legs giving out. Fatigue, balance and strength are real issues for me." Saying he has a new regimen of activity and thanking the people around him, he added, "I’m a coach and my job is to lead, to teach and inspire many people. The fact that I’m not that mobile or active does not affect my mental ability to do these things," and "I ask my players and my staff to be their best version of themselves. I should ask, or more precisely require the same for myself."
