Three firefighting crews, a water supply vehicle and a volunteer unit from Kibbutz Eilon assisted by security coordinators, are battling a blaze in a 5-dunam area garbage dump, in the community of Shomera, near the western part of the Lebanese border.
The firefighters are working to prevent the spread of fire in the direction of the community's peach orchards. The access is difficult and it is not possible to use firefighting aircraft due to proximity to the northern border. The fire is still burning out of control.
