Prime Minister Benyamin Netanyahu explained the decision to prevent the entry of two anti-Israeli Muslim congresswomen Ilhan Omar and Rashida Tlaib this weekend.
"No country in the world respects the US and the US Congress more than the State of Israel," said Netanyahu. Israel, as a vibrant and free democracy, Israel is open to all critics, with one exception: Israeli law prohibits the entry of people who call and work for the boycott of Israel. Israel has the right to prevent the entry of people whose intend to harm the country. The United States has also acted toward an Israeli Knesset member and other public figures in the world in such a manner.
"Congressmen Tlaib and Omar are leading activists in promoting boycott legislation against Israel in the US Congress. Only a few days ago, we received their visitation plan, and it became clear that they were planning a campaign whose sole purpose was to strengthen the boycott and negate Israel's legitimacy. The visit of the two congressmen shows that their intention is to hurt Israel and increase unrest against it, 'the Prime Minister added.
