Attorney General Dr. Avihai Mandelblit this morning submitted his position to the Administrative Court in Nazareth regarding a gender-separate performance intended for a haredi audience in Afula Municipal Park.
The Attorney General's position is that the said decision made by the municipality within the previous legal process is reasonable, and therefore, there is no statutory basis to intervene.
However, the Court emphasizes that, in principle, there may be special circumstances in which a local authority may hold a separate event for the haredi public, but this question is not necessary relevant now in view of the said municipal decision.
"In light of the above, the Attorney General intends to determine as soon as possible, in general, the legal standards and special circumstances pertaining to holding separate events for the haredi public," his office said.
