Member of Knesset Moshe Arbel of the haredi-religious Shas Party has asked Attorney General Avichai Mandelblit to give his professional opinion on holding events with gender segregation for the Orthodox and haredi public and support transfering the Afula case to the Supreme Court with an expanded panel of judges as soon as possible.
According to MK Arbel, "The decision of the district court, composed of a single judge, is unreasonable and violates the right to equality and freedom of religion of the haredi public." He made it clear that "this explosive issue" has "a direct impact on the public's confidence in the judicial system, which is critical for us as a civilized society," and a clear decision is needed.
