Orly Levi-Abekasis, one of the leaders of the Labor-Gesher list, spoke, Monday evening about the importance of changing the economic priority in the State of Israel. Interviewed by 103 FM radio, she said, "Money does not need to be poured, but priorities must change. From studies that have examined 133 economic programs made throughout history, there is one very clear finding that investing in the health and education of disadvantaged populations yields the greatest return."
The former Knesset member, who failed to clear the Knesset threshold running independently in the last election, explained, "We are talking about wealth tax for the especially high [monthly] income of NIS 54,000 ($15,500) and above can certainly take part of the burden. We are talking about abolishing coalition funds, the same political thing to silence and give to very specific sectors. We say that the State of Israel and the government are the state of all its citizens and it's unthinkable that we give up on the potential of those citizens in the periphery or children born to a disadvantaged home."
