Former Minister Eli Yishai responded on Sunday to a court ruling prohibiting gender segregation in a musical performance for the religious and haredi public in Afula.
"The justice system revealed its true face today. No equality, no women's exclusion, no freedom of expression and no freedom of culture, but trampling on minority rights and sectoral oppression. When the courts complain about a critical discourse that harms public trust in the courts, they should ask themselves when is the last time they defended the rights of the haredi minority who seek to live by their faith and hold a segregated event by consensus,” said Yishai.
“The court, with its own hands, urges the Knesset to limit its powers. The ruling today justifies it more than ever," the former Shas chairman added.
