Islamic Jihad has called for the escalation of the intifada and the fight against "the occupation" as a single way of action to break "its arrogance" and to respond to "its terror and aggression," following Sunday clashes between Muslim worshipers and police on the Temple Mount.
A statement by the terror groups congratulated residents of Al-Quds [Jerusalem -ed] and the "Territories occupied since 1948", for standing at the head of the camp for fulfilling the duty of protecting al-Aqsa Mosque in light of plans by the "Zionist enemy" to force its full control on the place and divide its use between Muslims and Jews. It placed full responsibility on Israel for the consequences of its "aggression and crimes," stressing that the Palestinian people will respond.
