Haredi-religious Members of Knesset have criticized a ruling on Sunday by the Nazareth District Court against gender-separate seating at a concert by hasidic singer Motti Steinmetz this Wednesday at the municipal park in Afula.
Most of them noted that the ruling came on the day that Jews observe the Fast of the 9th of Av, the anniversary of many Jewish calamities. MK Yitzhak Cohen said, "The next stage of Israeli court rulings will be to abolish the women's areas in Israeli synagogues, something they dare not do in mosques."
