Member of Knesset Uri Maklev asked Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu on Sunday to expand the scope of the Fax Law so that it can apply to other government bodies.
Under the law, which comes into effect this week. government bodies and municipalities will be required to allow the contact by digital means in addition to the continued use of fax to make it easier for the public to deal with the bureaucracy. In his letter to the prime minister, Rabbi Maklev said, "I would like to request that the law also apply to other bodies that provide public service under a government license, such as: gas suppliers, wired and cellular telecommunications companies, banks [and] insurance companies."
