President Reuven Rivlin has expressed sorrow at the death of the Tuvia Rivner, Israel Prize laureate for poetry.
Rivlin said, "His unique character captures a generation of poets who were not born into Hebrew, but chose it after immigrating to Israel. Poets like Leah Goldberg, 'rooted in two different landscapes'. Rivner, who arrived in the land after escaping the threat of the Holocaust in eastern Europe, was one of the pillars of Hebrew literature, won the Israel Prize and promoted Hebrew literature as a researcher, teacher, ambassador and translator in Israel and around the world."
