An Ofakim resident, age 49, was arrested on suspicion of attempting to murder a 75-year-old woman in the city.
Police investigators found that the suspect who once lived in the building and was acquainted with the woman knocked on the door of her house. As she opened the door he attacked her and strangled her with a string. The old woman managed to kick the door of the room where her son was staying and when he emerged he fought off the attacker who fled.
