The Kfar Saba Magistrates' Court convicted the rabbi of the Chabad community in Emanuel, Chaim Kizner, of corruption committed during the municipal elections in 2013.
According to the amended indictment, the defendant pleads guilty to during the campaign in 2013, the defendant and other members of the Chabad faction in the settlement negotiated with the head of the council, Ezra Gershi to hire of members of the Chabad community for educational functions in the Council and to transfer prohibited financial support to various Chabad institutions, which also included an aspect of personal favors for those involved in the negotiations. Gershi and the defendant later signed a written agreement that included the illegal segments.
According to the plea bargain, the state will grant the defendant a five-month prison term, which he will serve, if found fit, along with a suspended sentence. Among the considerations of the State Attorney's Office to reach a plea bargain was the taking of responsibility on the part of the defendant and various personal circumstances.
