National Security Advisor John Bolton of the United States tweeted on Monday, "The United States condemns the illegitimate Venezuelan regime’s provocative actions against our US Navy aircraft while on a routine mission. These unsafe & unprofessional actions are yet another example of dictator Nicolás Maduro’s willful violation of international norms & laws."
He was referring to an incident on Friday, in which a Russian-made Venezuelan fighter jet "approached in an unprofessional manner" at an "unsafe distance" from a U.S. reconnaissance plane in international airspace over the Caribbean Sea.
