Interior Minister Aryeh Deri sent a letter to Akko Mayor Shimon Lankri on Monday, saying that after examining the facts, he concluded that tax benefits for the city and Nahariya should be equalized, as they were 20 years ago, to reverse negative migration from Akko to Nahariya.
The Knesset Finance Committee, at the recommendation of the finance minister, gave Nahariya tax benefits up to three times greater than that of Akko, causing mass abandonment of the middle class from Akko to Nahariya. Deri announced that the matter requires amendment and that he supports the amendment of the law.
