Yaffa Ben-David, secretary-general of the Histadrut Hamorim teachers union, is threatening not to open the school year if the teachers' demands regarding sick days and pensions are not met, according to Israeli public television.

The threat came after the union realized that a new wage agreement would not be signed due to the transitional nature of the government, ahead of the September 17th elections. The value of the demands is estimated in the millions of shekels.
