The Supreme Court ordered the Israel Land Authority to pay Regavim NIS10,000 for legal expenses, after consistently ignoring its requests.
The petition was submitted to the Supreme Court in 2017, demanding the removal of an illegally constructed agricultural complex that invaded state land near the community of Romat al-Heib in the north of the country.
"We're waiting for the day when the authorities will walk hand-in-hand with us, act first and enforce the law against illegal construction on state land, without the need for us to reach the court," says Chezi Eyal, northern coordinator of Regavim. "The petition to the Supreme Court was submitted only after our appeals were consistently ignored. The court ruled that the Israel Land Authority did not meet the basic standards of freedom of information and law enforcement. "
