MK Ofir Sofer (Jewish Home) commented on Facebook on the decision of the Ramat Gan city council to open public transportation on Shabbat.

"It's not only a question of religion, but a public and national question. 'Every people and nation has a tradition of views, beliefs, customs that protect it ...' (Meir Dizengoff). I have a lot of love for the city of Ramat Gan. As a parachutist I remember it as a uniting city, a city that adopted the paratroopers. I ask where the hell are you taking this, Mr. Carmel Shama? And for what - the love of media attention?

"The mayor of Ramat Gan has always been a bridge between secular, haredi, religious, and traditional Jews," he says.

"Mr. Mayor, if you plan to turn Ramat Gan into Tel Aviv 2, perhaps you should learn a bit from Meir Dizengoff, who, despite being secular, did not lend a hand to harming the holy day of the Jewish People."
