David Blatt, the coach of the Greek Olympic basketball team Olympiakos and the first Israeli to coach in the NBA, announced today (Monday) his intention to enter public life in the future.
"I want to be at the end of my career working in diplomacy," Blatt declared at The Marker's social innovation conference in Jerusalem.
Blatt made it clear that he did not "invite" the question. The decorated coach came to the conference to talk about the connection between sports and social contribution, and he also criticized the activity in Israel in the field.
"In Israel there is a program by the principal that makes sure that groups come to appear in front of smaller sports teams or clubs, in order to influence children's participation in the field or sports in general. It's possible to do much more. I am not saying they're doing enough, but they're trying. I suggest they do even more."
