The site, from the time of King David, was discovered near Kiryat Gat.
According to the Biblical narrative, David found refuge in Ziklag while fleeing from King Saul. From there he went to Hebron to be anointed as King.
Dozens of complete pottery vessels were found at the site, 3,000 years old.
