MK Penina Tamanu-Shata (Blue and White) on Monday night commented on the Ethiopian community’s protests, saying, "I am sorry that what is happening now is the loss of control of the police who chose to shoot firecrackers and fire directly at children and adults without giving a warning."

"I wish a speedy recovery to all the injured, but the community is fighting for its existence in security in our country. We have been in a difficult situation since the death of Solomon Tekah, and since the policeman was released to house arrest so quickly. Despite all my attempts to calm the situation in a dialogue with Public Security Minister Erdan, he was not prepared to answer the phone. Apparently he went to sleep while our children were demonstrating and the situation was getting worse," she added.
