Yair Golan, the former Deputy Chief of Staff who joined Ehud Barak's party, responded to the death of the young Ethiopian immigrant in Kiryat Chaim.

"The death of Solomon Takka reopens an open wound in the heart of Israeli society. For many years, Israelis and children of the Ethiopian community have suffered from racism, harassment, and violence. The death of Solomon Takka must be investigated, immediately. No whitewash; eyes open. But real healing will only emerge when we truly deal with the racism that's poisoning us from the inside," Golan said.

"My heart is with the family of the late Solomon Takka, who suffered a terrible loss. For them, and for the entire Israeli society, we must promote this healing," he added.
