The Israel Women's Network approached the director general of the Kann broadcasting corporation, demanding that the women's World Cup semi-finals broadcast on television be broadcast only via digital broadcasts on the Internet.
"Women constitute half of the world's population, and women's World Cup is a major sporting event worthy of coverage and exposure no less than the competition of men. As a public broadcasting channel committed to the values of equality, the discrimination in the broadcasts of the women's World Cup competition is contrary to the values of public broadcasting and is incompatible with its goals - to give diversity and proper representation to all parts of society."
