The Public Security Ministry, responsible for licensing weapons, refused to approve a Muslim soldier who serves in an elite IDF sniper unit and continues to carry out a military operation in the Gaza Strip.

According to Carmela Menashe, the Ministry claimed he was dyslexic and sent him to participate in a course to improve his knowledge of Hebrew and only then would his case be examined.

As a result of the appeal, it was decided to allow him to carry weapons as a special exception.
