Following the instruction of Foreign Minister Yisrael Katz, Israel reprimanded the Chilean ambassador to Israel and senior officials accompanying the president of Chile during his visit to Israel due to the fact that, in contrast to an earlier agreement, he was accompanied by senior Palestinian officials during his visit to the Temple Mount.
"The Foreign Minister sees with severity any violation of Israeli sovereignty on the Temple Mount, and certainly one that occurs in violation of clear procedures and agreements. We must distinguish between absolute freedom of worship, which Israel is more careful about than any other factor in the past, and the preservation and prevention of harm to our sovereignty over the Temple Mount," the Foreign Ministry said.
