MK Ofer Cassif (Hadash-Ta'al) arrived this morning at a demonstration for the release of Dalal Daoud, who has been serving a 18-year sentence for the murder of her husband.
"Dalal Daoud isn't a murderer, but a victim of violence who decided to fight for her life, and she beat off a vicious attacker. Dalal complained to the police 26 times," he said, adding that "no one defended her, and now she's paying a very high price for defending herself."
Cassif added that "in the many years since the incident, we heard of more murders in the family, and this is always the man who murders the woman after a series of abuse. What else should happen so that the enforcement agencies will take complaints about domestic violence seriously?"
