Minister of Foreign Affairs and Intelligence Yisrael Katz (Likud) told the Jerusalem Post Conference in New York on Sunday that this is a decisive year in what Israel calls the war between the wars. Katz said, "The impact of the US economic sanctions on Iran, Israel’s military and intelligence activity against Iran and its proxies, as well as Russian policy in Syria, will determine if the region heads to stability or war."

He also said Israel faces significant threats and challenges, as well as many opportunities. He vowed Israel’s red lines in the region would be enforced, saying specifically, "No to Iranian nuclear weapons, No to Iran and Hezbollah basing themselves militarily in Syria. No to precise missile production and upgraded capability in Lebanon. No to any violation of Israeli sovereignty, in the Golan Heights, or anywhere else."
