Minister Zeev Elkin addressed on Twitter US Ambassador David Friedman's statement that Israel has the right to apply sovereignty in Judea and Samaria.

"Ambassador Friedman's remarks attest to a ripening understanding in Israel and even among international officials, including the United States, that in the final analysis Israel intends to bring sovereignty to significant parts of Judea and Samaria, if not the entire territory."

Elkin added that "the ambassador said something obvious on which there is a broad consensus - in a reality where some 400,000 people live in Judea and Samaria and hundreds of thousands in Jerusalem - the Green Line has been erased as a concept of political significance. Therefore I have been speaking and acting for years on behalf of sovereignty, if not on a complete scope then at least gradually. Anyone who denies it denies reality."
