The Jerusalem District Attorney's Office, in the name of the Ministry of Defense and the Ministry of Culture and Sport, has filed a compensation claim against Itzuv Bama (Stage Design) Limited and two managers at the company that built the bank of lights that collapsed during the rehearsals for the Independence Day torchlighting ceremony on Mount Herzl in 2012, which killed soldier Hila Bezaleli, and injured two other soldiers.
The claim was also filed against the building engineer and the safety consultant whose services were hired for the construction of the lighting bank and against three insurance companies that insured the financial liability of the defendants involved in the construction of the light bridge following its collapse. The lawsuit was filed following a criminal proceeding in which they were convicted of causing death by negligence and for two offenses of negligent injury. The suit seeks reimbursement from the parties for the payments it has made and will make to the victims and their families.
