Herzog: Jews no longer safe in streets of Europe

Jewish Agency Chairman Yitzchak Herzog responded to the statement by the German Commissioner for Combating Antisemitism that he recommends that Jews in Germany not wear a skullcap: "It is inconceivable that seventy-four years after the end of World War II, Jews in Germany cannot wear a skullcap .

"This statement by Mr. Klein fully matches my recent assertion that Jews are no longer safe in the streets of Europe. I call on governments throughout Europe and of course the German government to take all steps to ensure the security of the Jewish community in their countries of residence."
