Member of Knesset Desta "Gadi" Yevarken has responded to the documentation of Border Police officers beating a special education boy in Jerusalem by saying, "The purpose of every police officer is to protect the public's safety, and it seems that some of the patrol policemen and the special police officers interpret the authority that the legislature gave them incorrectly. On the face of it, it seems that the police have marked certain populations in order to suppress and carry out conscious terror and public shaming toward them."
MK Yevarken concluded, "As long as the police do not equip officers with cameras, the burden of proof applies to the police, not the other way around. We have reached a situation where there are civilians who are afraid of the police and even carry a trauma from the encounter with the police."
