In a post on Twitter, Minister Gilad Erdan (Likud) called on people celebrating the Lag Baomer festival to obey instructions from firefighters, writing:
"One of the customs on Lag BaOmer is to light a bonfire, but the heat today is severe, so this time it is especially important to obey the instructions of the Firefighting Authority, and you know what, since it is not really a mitzvah to light a fire, maybe this year we will try to make it easier for the firefighters."
